Abstract

The significance of the topic of this study lies in the fact that since the creation of the Jewish Autonomous Region, various Jewish national collectives have successfully worked on its territory. However, due to political and economic reasons, they ceased to exist in the 1990s. As part of the implementation of the “Strategy of Cultural Policy of the Russian Federation” in the 2000s, the idea of reviving Jewish theatrical art in the Jewish Autonomous Region became relevant. However, the implementation of this idea had certain difficulties, which the author of the article dwells on.. The author of the article focuses on the processes of the emergence of Jewish theater groups in the region in the twentieth century, and speaks about their important role in the formation of the socio-cultural space of the Far Eastern region. As a result, using a systematic method, the author conducted not only an analysis of the materials of the newspaper Birobidzhanskaya Zvezda, but also identified a number of problems regarding the possible revival of the Jewish theater on the territory of the EAO. After all, the importance of Jewish culture in the national autonomous region is the main factor in preserving this subject in the federal structure of Russia. However, the absence of a large contingent of representatives of the Jewish nation in the Jewish autonomy, due to their departure to Birobidzhan, the Kogalet theater cannot be fully considered a national Jewish theater, since the lack of performances in the Hebrew language makes it impossible to speak of this collective as a truly national theater.
