The Museum of Victory will open an exhibition for the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the blockade of Leningrad

The Victory Museum at Poklonnaya Hill on September 4 will present an exhibition project "872 days of tragedy and courage", dedicated to the defense of Leningrad. The exhibition is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the blockade, the TASS was informed in the press service of the museum.

Visitors will be told about the beginning of the blockade, attempts to break through and complete lifting of the siege. Separate sections of the exhibition are devoted to survival logistics - the Road of Life, the gas pipeline at the bottom of Lake Ladoga, as well as the work of aviation and railway troops on food delivery. At the same time, the focus is on the life and work of the besieged city: through authentic relics of that time, the history of factory designers, musicians, museum employees, local air defense fighters and firefighters will be revived in front of visitors to the museum.

In total, the exhibition will show over 150 rarities from the funds of the Victory Museum and the private collection of the researcher, author of the non-profit scientific and educational project "Blockade." Always with me" Viktoria Bazhenova. Among the exhibits are Soviet clothing and weapons, items from battle scenes, photos and documents, personal belongings of defenders of Leningrad.

"The exhibition will present personal belongings of Colonel Kirill Meretskov, who distinguished himself in breaking the blockade of Leningrad during "Operation Spark", the front artist Sophia Uranova, the war disabled Dmitry Zorodin and many others. Among the exhibits are a bayonet-knife of blockaded production for the Mosin rifle, the helmet of the Leningrad air defense fighter, the suit of a diver and a fragment of a cable laid at the bottom of Lake Ladoga, models of armored vehicles, cars and aircraft, miniature dioramas, including one dedicated to the capture of the first trophy tank "Tiger" near Leningrad in January 1943", told the museum.

The exhibition will be supplemented by items from the collection of Bazhenov - a painting "Breach of the Blockade" by Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic People’s Artist Yaroslav Nikolaev, an authentic book of the 1943 Leningrad Family House, an addendum to the 1942 Leningrad Theater, a tram ticket for September 1941 and other exhibits.
