Abstract
The article analyzes the implementation of information technologies in the registration and storage activities of museums in the Republic of Tatarstan. The subject of the study is the use of specialized software products and the formation of electronic catalogues of museum collections during the period 2002–2025. The aim is to comprehensively analyze regional informatization experience and evaluate the effectiveness of information systems. The research hypothesis suggests that systematic implementation of information technologies significantly improves the efficiency of registration and storage activities and ensures accessibility of museum collections for researchers and the public. The methodology includes analysis of archival documents, regulatory acts, publications by museum specialists, as well as examination of electronic catalogues and information systems. The results show that museum informatization in the republic went through three stages: preparatory (late 1990s), active implementation (2000–2010s), and integration into a unified information space (since 2010s). The scientific significance lies in the first systematization of regional experience in applying information technologies to museum registration and storage activities. Practical significance is determined by the possibility of using the results in developing informatization strategies for museums in other Russian regions. Key problems have been identified: insufficient funding, lack of qualified personnel, and the need for constant software updates. Development prospects are associated with completing electronic catalogue formation, expanding digitization of museum objects, and implementing artificial intelligence technologies and big data analysis.
