The Local History Museum in Nogliki in the north of the Sakhalin region will open in a new building in 2027 after moving. This was reported by TASS to the Minister of Culture and Archives of the Sakhalin region Nonna Lavrick.
"I am grateful to Mayor Noglik (Sergey Gurjanov) who found the opportunity to purchase a new building. We will redesign it. This will be a vibrant new museum located in the city center. The old museum’s area is 730 square meters, and the new building is significantly larger. Its area is 1.5 thousand square meters. The new museum will open in 2027," she said.
In the new complex there will be an opportunity to present exhibitions brought from the regional center and other regions. In the building where the institution is located today, there is a risk of losing valuable exhibits dedicated to the culture and the daily life of the indigenous peoples of the north of Sakhalin. On this problem in a meeting with the governor of the Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko reported the head of the Nobel Museum Yevgeny Ihumnov. "We have a beautiful museum. The collection holds nine thousand exhibits. The museum is housed in an old, crumbling building. It is the destruction that carries risks of losing part of the artifacts," said Ihumnov.
