People’s Artist of Russia, musician Dmitry Malikov believes that classical music needs to be visualized and processed for promotion in the youth environment. He said this during one of the marathon sessions "Knowledge. First" during the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg.
"I’ve never been a fan of classical music editing. But now I see that there is a certain need, because time has become so tight. We can no longer, for example, listen to "The Ring of Nibelung", which runs for several hours, but we are ready to listen to its fragments, some main themes,' said Malikov, responding to a question about how to revive the classic.
According to him, it is very important to seek an approach to the classic because "young people are bored to perceive it in its pure form". Therefore, noted the musician, the classic should be designed as a show - original music, but with visualization. As an example, he cited an orchestra that plays popular classical music by placing a thousand candles on stage: this immediately evokes romantic associations in people and attracts young people.
Malikov also added that modern songs often use classic beats, and such songs are becoming popular, but in his view, this is not enough. He believes that there is still a huge field for creativity.
